Route 66 “Ruth”

As we continue to cruise through the 66 books of the Bible, one book per Sunday, this week’s focus is the book of Ruth. This short story takes place “in the days when the judges ruled” (Ruth 1:1) – a time of apostasy, warfare, violence, and moral decay in Israel. In contrast, Ruth provides a cameo of the other side of the story – the godly remnant who remained true to the laws of God. The 3 main characters, Naomi, Ruth, and Boaz, help us to understand the concept of “kinsman-redeemer” – a very important principle in the Old Testament that is still relevant to our lives today in our relationship with Jesus Christ.
